Zef Segal is a historian of media, space, and mobility. He serves as a Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) at the School of Media Studies at the College of Management Academic Studies in Israel and is currently a Visiting Assistant Professor in Digital and Computational Studies and History at Bates College.
His research investigates how ideas of space and spatiality were reshaped in the nineteenth century, particularly in relation to new forms of mobility and communication. Bringing together cultural history, cartography, and digital humanities, his work blends close historical analysis with computational approaches to explore how people understood, represented, and moved through the world.
